Event Description
This informal workshop offers an introduction to natural dyeing. You will learn how to prepare yarn for dyeing and explore the different mordants used for protein and cellulose fibres. The workshop uses only safer, more environmentally conscious modern mordants, and includes guidance on safety and environmental considerations.
Resources for further study, including books on natural dyeing, will also be recommended. All materials are provided, including dyes, mordants, yarns, aprons, gloves, and masks.
During the session, you will dye two or three different yarns using a variety of natural plant-based dyes. Please let me know in advance if you have any special requests, such as plant-based yarns only.
