2-hour Floor Loom Weaving Taster Session

These 2-hour, one-to-one sessions offer an introduction to floor loom weaving using a Schacht jack loom and boat shuttles in my backyard studio. The loom will be pre-threaded with warp threads, so you can jump into weaving right away! You will explore a range of twill patterns, experiment with hand-manipulated weaving techniques, and work with different yarns and novelty materials. During the session, you will weave a small ready-to-hang wall hanging.

All materials are provided but you are welcome to bring your own weft materials, including yarns, dried grasses, plants, or other flexible materials if you would like to incorporate them into your piece. The session also introduces basic weaving terminology.

Please let me know in advance if you have any special requests, such as plant-based yarns only. Tea and/or coffee will be available.

Accessibility – please note that my studio is in my backyard, and does involve 6 steps and an uneven, slightly uphill gravel path. My workshop floor looms require the use of at least one foot to operate.
